Happy New Year! It’s 2024! Each year, I like to take some time to recap my previous year, look back through my goals for the previous year and set new goals for the upcoming year. I like to set goals in different areas of my life: personal, spiritual, marriage, parenting, and financial. Every few months, I revisit my goals to check in on my progress. I want to make sure they continue to rudder my year.
Are you a goal setter? If not, what’s keeping you from setting a few goals this year? If so, how do you stay accountable to your goals for the coming year?
I thought I’d share a few of my frugal goals with you this year. Feel free to steal them, share them, or make goals of your own to help you press even more into financial freedom in 2024! Happy New Year, fellow moms (and dads)! I see you and believe in you!
- Read at least 2 books on finance/money this year. This isn’t a lofty goal, but I set my other reading goals higher for this year. We’ll see which books make this list.
- Each month, I’m going to try a no grocery spend week. I always participate in Shelftember for September, and I love the creativity of shopping from my pantry, fridge, and freezer, so I thought rather than just one month a year, I’d try a week every month. Wish me luck!
- End the year with a fully funded emergency fund. We’ve had to dip into ours recently, so we’ll be working on refilling it in the months to come. I prefer to keep ours at 6 months, since we are a one-income family.
- We’d love to pay off our home within the next two years to really live with freedom, so we’ll be continuing to work toward this lofty goal with some smaller goals along the way.
- Just as important as saving to us, is putting our money toward things we value. My marriage is so treasured and I want to put money toward continuing to invest in our marriage. That being said, my goal for this year includes two date nights out a month, which can be a challenge with four young kids, and two weekends away in 2024. We will budget for and enjoy every minute of our time together.
I have lots of other goals in other categories, but these seemed the most fitting to share. Lots of new posts coming in the next few weeks. Happy New Year! Here’s to a healthy, free 2024!
